“Prascilla”
- 14H, 11 year old bay overo paint/quarter horse mare
You know that horse everyone calls looking for? The one that's “JUST” a horse? Well, meet Priscilla! We get a phone call almost every single day from someone who says, “Hey, I'm not looking for anything fancy…I ”just" want a horse to trail ride on!" Well, sounds simple enough, right? But here's the thing... that horse still has to be trained! They don't “just” pop out of their mama, letting you catch them, they don't "just" be relaxed when you pull them from their herd of BEST friends, they don't “just” let you saddle them, “just” stand perfectly quietly while you whaller up on them, and they don't “JUST” walk down the trail on a loose rein happy as could be not looking for monsters in the trees. And they don't “just” become the consistent same horse every time you pull it out of the pasture whether that is once a month, once, a week, once a day, or maybe once a year. That kind of enjoyable trail riding consistency…usually doesn't “just” happen by accident! Most of those horses - have been trained for something, and that training costs REAL money! Well, Priscilla is the exception - and really is “JUST” a horse!
She's not a fancy performance horse, she's not going to win you any competitions, and she's certainly not going to impress anybody with her athletic ability. But if you're looking for a sweet, uncomplicated mare to (just) go enjoy a ride on, and you want a gorgeous one - she's about as good as they come! Priscilla is an absolutely beautiful mare with the kind of fancy looks that make you think she ought to cost a whole lot more money! She's spent her life trail riding, riding around the place, and checking cows. Nothing complicated, nothing fancy, “just” being a good, useful horse! And that's exactly what she is! She (just) walks. She (just) stands. She (just) stands quietly in the corner of the turnback pen. She (just) loads in the trailer. She's (just) easy to catch. She (just) stands tied. She's (just) good for the farrier. She (just) lets you saddle her up. She (just) stands there while you climb on…even if you have to step her over to the trailer fender, or a log, or a curb to get a little extra boost to get up there. And when you pick up the reins and ask her to go somewhere? She (just) walks off happily on a big, loose, draping rein! Now, here's where the "(just)" part really comes in!
Priscilla is not an athletic horse. She's actually pretty awkward when she trots or lopes, and pretty circles at the lope are definitely not in her set of skills. She's not the horse we're going to advertise as a fancy arena horse or a performance prospect. But walking? She's got that figured out! And she does it happily, quietly, comfortably, and with a great attitude. She's an absolute pleasure to (just) ride around on! We've hauled Priscilla into town and she SHINES - she has been through several parades, and she enjoys all kinds of environments. And honestly? If I were picking a horse to (just) go enjoy a parade on, she'd be the one I'd choose! She's pleasant, uncomplicated, and perfectly content to stroll along and enjoy the scenery. She's also the same sweet, steady mare every time we catch her. No big production, no drama, no complicated routine. (Just) catch her, (just) saddle her, (just) climb on, and (just) go enjoy yourself! We've gone through Priscilla and gotten her ready for her next home. She's been power-pack dewormed, had her feet freshly done last week, and has been seen by our equine dentist. She's in beautiful flesh, slick, tight-haired, shiny, and looking fantastic! At 11 years old, she's a wonderful age with plenty of years ahead to enjoy. And the BEST part? She's actually priced like …"JUST" a horse!
The first $4,500 gets her!
We've had so many people call looking for an affordable, uncomplicated horse to (just) trail ride, (just) check the pasture, or (just) enjoy on a beautiful fall weekend afternoon. Well, here she is! The weather is cooling off, the days are gorgeous, and Priscilla is ready for somebody who wants to (just) grab their saddle, throw the reins away, and enjoy the ride! If you've been calling looking for "(JUST) a horse," don't overlook this little mare. We think whoever takes her home to “just” 😉ride, is going to be absolutely tickled with her!
